About The Southern Highlands

The Southern Highlands, also locally referred to as the Highlands, is a geographical region and district in New South Wales, Australia and is 110 km south-west of Sydney. The entire region is under the local government area of the Wingecarribee Shire and also considered an important wine region.

An eclectic mixture of picturesque villages nestled atop the Illawarra escarpment at approximately 700 metres above sea level which is  centred on the commercial towns of Mittagong, Bowral, Moss Vale, Bundanoon and Robertson as well as the historic town of Berrima. Smaller villages like Burradoo, Colo Vale, Avoca, Yerrinbool, Exter, Welby, Wildes Meadow and many more are spread in between and around these main centres and serve mostly as residential areas.

Most famous for the definite seasonal changes which ensure lush green hillsides and thriving English style cottage gardens, the entire Highlands offers up a very diverse range of properties to suit all lifestyles and budgets.

There’s plenty of ‘rural community spirit’ and it’s a safe haven for children to grow with schools, sporting fields and rainforest walks.
